APPROACH

There are tons of methods that we use to approach a problem and launch or manage a product. It mostly depends on various aspects such as resources, budget, technology etc. 

Here are some approaches that I apply: 

  1. Agile Methodologies: SCRUM (certified) and Kamban (only for risk events)

  2. Development Frameworks: Design Thinking (certified)

  3. Prioritization Frameworks: MoSCoW and Kano Model

  4. Test Approaches: A/B Testing and Experiments

  5. GTM & Growth Strategies: Blue Ocean Strategy and Rewards based

METHODS

As a seasoned product manager, I often get asked what product managers do since we seem to be everyone. Well.. I have kind of laid out my experience as both an individual contributor and a team manager below. Do note that as a team manger, you will need to, at times, take one the individual contributor and team manager role. That's just life! ​

Individual contributor: 

  1. Understanding the problem or task at hand, and requirements from stakeholders

  2. Market, competitor customer research, user stories, marketing collaterals, 

  3. Ideation, Wireframing, prototyping, user testing and collaborating with relevant teams

  4. Launch preparation and briefing with teams, release notes, endorsements and LV

  5. Launch product, customer and operations support, KPI monitoring

 

Team Manager: 

  1. Discover problem, align roadmaps, and brief stakeholders, internal team and partners.

  2. Define outcomes, drivers and approach; map out product blueprint; allocate resources.

  3. Get budget and legal approval from senior mgmt; conduct workshops for stakeholders.

  4. Brief product managers and task them to organise userstories, research and marketing.

  5. Endorse timelines, product backlog, sprint schedule and weekly cadence with teams.

  6. Guide, refine and approve all product collaterals and materials; evaluate user testing

  7. Brief compliance, marketing, support teams on launch itinerary and post-support

  8. Give the Go/No Go for Live Verification and Launch- supplement with briefing.

  9. Launch Product, post-launch support, and progressive report to all stakeholders.
